Empowering Pygmy Children Through Education: Supporting School Fees in Kalehe Territory, South Kivu

This project aims to alleviate financial barriers to education for Pygmy children in the Kalehe territory of South Kivu, Democratic Republic of Congo. Through our holistic approach, we not only pay for the school fees of Pygmy children but also actively engage with their parents and advocate for free education. We visit the Pygmy camps and educate parents about the importance of education, encouraging them to enroll their children in school. We then approach the schools to request free education for the Pygmy children, and in some cases, the request is granted, although often only partially. While tuition fees are covered, additional costs such as premiums, miscellaneous expenses, operating costs, and school materials become our responsibility.

In the village schools, the monthly fees amount to $5. However, we negotiate with the schools to cover the fees. Some of them cover only half of the fees, requiring us to contribute $2.50 per child per month to cover their education expenses along with related costs. To raise the necessary funds, we employ various strategies. Firstly, we generate revenue through the sale of plants in our multiple nursery sites. Additionally, we receive contributions from our members who support our cause. Furthermore, we rely on donations from national and provincial deputies elected from the territory, who are stationed in Kinshasa and other provinces.

Our organization is committed to ensuring that Pygmy children have equal access to education and the opportunity to break the cycle of poverty.

By supporting this project, you directly contribute to providing quality education for Pygmy children, covering their school fees, related expenses, and other essential resources. Through your support, we can empower these children and help them achieve a brighter future.

Costs for one child per month:

  • School related expenses (at least 50% of $5 per month): $2.50
  • Premium or miscellaneous costs like xxx : $0.50
  • Operating costs like xxx: $0.30
  • School materials like xxx: $0.70

Total cost for one child in one month: $4.00

Please note that this cost estimate includes the payment of school fees, premiums, miscellaneous costs, operating expenses, and school materials to ensure that the child receives a comprehensive education experience. Your contribution will directly support covering these costs for one child in one month.

Join us in our mission to support the education of Pygmy children in the Kalehe territory!

By making a donation, you play a crucial role in removing barriers to education and opening doors of opportunity for these marginalized children. Your contribution will directly impact their lives by covering school fees, related costs, and essential materials, providing them with the chance to build a better future for themselves and their communities. Your generosity and support can make a significant and lasting difference. Together, let's ensure that every child, regardless of their background or circumstances, has the opportunity to receive a quality education and reach their full potential.
